How Can We Help?
The track is essentially a fit-and-forget asset. The maintenance routine is light, and most of it gets done by ward staff during curtain changes rather than by estates.
At every curtain change
- Wipe the track top with a microfibre cloth — dust collects on the upper face.
- Check all end stops are present and seated.
- Run the empty gliders end-to-end. Listen for drag or grit.
- Replace any glider that’s yellow, cracked or sticky.
Annually
- Visual check of every hanger from a stepladder. Any sag, any movement, raise a job.
- Check joining bars are tight.
- Check the track is level along its run — if a hanger has slipped, the curtain will catch.
Five-yearly
- Pull-test a sample of hangers per HTM 66. We can do this as part of an estates contract.
Lifetime warranty
The aluminium track itself carries a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defect. In practice, tracks installed correctly are still running after 20+ years.
