How Can We Help?
Suspended ceiling grids are not a fixing — they’re a finish. You can’t hang a 30 kg curtain run off a grid tile, and you definitely can’t hang it off the T-bar. The fixing always goes to the structure above.
The right method
- Map the track run on the grid below. Plan hanger positions at 1.5 m centres plus bends and joining bars.
- Above the grid, span the run with unistrut (41×41 channel) supported back to the slab on threaded rod.
- Drop threaded rod through the grid at each hanger position. Use rubber grommets where the rod passes through tiles.
- Fix the track hanger to the rod below the grid.
What not to do
- Don’t fix into the grid tile or T-bar.
- Don’t use single-point anchors into plasterboard ceilings without back-fixings.
- Don’t ignore the void contents — sprinklers, smoke detectors and cable trays all need clearance.
If in doubt
Our installation team handles suspended ceilings every week. If you’re self-installing and the void looks busy, send us a photo and we’ll talk it through.
